Our cutting boards are made from off-cut stock leftover from furniture and milling projects. This is one of our primary ways we avoid filling up our dumpster (and landfills) unnecessarily. (We also add our off-cuts to our Kids’ Class scrap bins). Most boards consist of a combination of domestic hardwoods: walnut, ash, oaks and maples. There might be the occasional pieces of mahogany, or some exotic hardwoods here and there. All have a food-safe finish already applied plus included instructions on how to care for your cutting board. The large boards are approximately 1-1/8” in thickness. Give or take.

What makes it “end grain?” The wood grain is oriented vertically which aids in “self healing” from knife marks and the wood is less dulling to your knife. Because we work with a variety of wood species it makes each cutting board unique. You never know exactly what you will get as far as a final design. Occasionally we photograph and list specific boards, however the pictures here are merely examples (not the actual board) you will receive.
